　　7. than VS then

　　than conj.

　　意：use it after a comparative adjective or adverb in order to link two parts of a comparison.

　　maintain vt.

　　意：continue to have it, and do not let it stop or grow weaker.

　　sustain vt.

　　意：continue it or maintain it for a period of time.

　　例：He has sustained his fierce social conscience from young adulthood through old age.
