Theresearchersexaminedthebrainpatternsof112studyparticipantsastheylayinanfMRImachinenotdoinganythinginparticularandjuststaringatafixedpointforfiveminutes.

Whileit'simportanttonotethatthesamplesizeinthisstudywasfairlysmall,theteambelievesthatthisfindingopensupthepotentialforfurtherresearchintothewanderingmind,totryandfigureoutwhenit'saproblem,andwhenit'saboon.

值得注意的是,这项研究使用的样本量不大,即便如此,研究团队认为这一发现开启了后续研究的大门,以便进一步了解神游何时有害、何时有益。
